An 18-year-old Yelm woman was arrested April 1 after an altercation with police at Yelm Walmart. Police were initially dispatched to the store for a disturbance and found twin sisters known to the officers. One twin told the officer the other was leaving with her keys. At that time the officer learned the leaving twin also had a felony warrant. The officer contacted the woman just east of the store on Highway 507. She had a prior history of assaulting the officer in the past so he reportedly removed his Taser and instructed her to put her hands behind her back. The woman placed her hands behind her back and as the officer went to holster his Taser, she lunged at him, having feigned compliance. She was placed on the ground and detained until a second officer arrived. A subsequent search found a bag of methamphetamine, pipes and a glass jar full of an unknown substance and she was booked into Thurston County Jail for unlawful possession of a controlled substance. The officer also requested a violent offender caution be placed on the woman due to her multiple assaults on law enforcement, obstructing, resisting and feigning compliance.
