In regards to the commentary by Nisqually Valley News Regional Editor Eric Schwartz on homelessness (“Editor’s Notes: On Homelessness, Your Opinion Doesn’t Make You Cruel or Naive”), it was nicely said. 

I think the real problem is that people are focusing on it being a housing problem when it is really a drug and alcohol problem. 

These poor souls need compassionate, humane and, yes, involuntary confinement. 

Anything less represents cruel ignorance by the rest of us.
