Yelm City Hall

The Yelm City Council unanimously approved the annexation of five lots on Grove Road Southeast into the city’s limits during its regular meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 24.

Community Development Director Grant Beck said the five lots are already water customers, so there weren’t any issues with regards to water rights.

Around mid-September, all five property owners signed a petition to annex into the city limits.

Beck said as the new municipal residents transition from the urban growth area into city limits, the city will collect more property tax revenue while residents also see a decrease in overall rates.

Council member Tracey Wood described the city ordinance to annex as a win-win for those residents and the city.
