The Yelm Sunbird Shopping Center is seen from the front of the store.

The Yelm location of the Sunbird Shopping Center will close.

The announcement came in the form of a full page advertisement in the Nisqually Valley News.

The business, which has a location in Chehalis that will remain open, will be closed Friday, Saturday and Sunday as markdowns are made. It will reopen at 9 a.m. Monday, and everything will be 25 percent off.

“After 19 years of serving the Yelm community, we are sad to announce we are closing our Yelm store,” the business wrote in its advertisement.

The owners were not available to comment by press deadline.

This is too bad. Hope the owners made a ton of money for selling in a thriving community. I and several friends drove there from Lacey to always buy our fishing gear and items. I live only 2 miles from Cabellas and it is worth the drive to go to Yelm. Real shame, this is the cost of a growing region, we are losing many of our establishments we enjoyed.
