Plane Lands on Road

A Yelm man was responsible for safely landing a small plane on Pacific Avenue in Parkland Thursday morning, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Several media outlets identified the pilot as David Acklam, a field artillery officer with the Washington Army National Guard.

The emergency landing, prompted by a malfunctioning fuel system according to KIRO, was captured by a trooper’s dash camera at about 8:15 a.m. on Pacific Avenue between 143rd and 135th streets.

In footage obtained by Q13 News and other outlets, the plane can been seen flying low as the trooper turns around and begins to follow it. It came to a stop at an intersection before the trooper and pilot pushed it off the road.

There were no damages or injuries.
