East Olympia Fire

A 79-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman died in a mobile home fire in east Olympia Sunday night, according to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.

The victims were not identified, though the sheriff’s office said they were related and lived at the residence.

The sheriff’s office and the East Olympia Fire Department responded to the fire in the 3500 block of 83rd Avenue Southeast in Olympia at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday.

Firefighters recovered two people from the home as they worked to extinguish the fire. Both were confirmed deceased at the scene.

Fire investigators and detectives were at the scene overnight and returned this morning to continue the investigation.

The cause has not been determined.
