Thurston County Watch

The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 42-year-old woman after determining she caused the death of her 3-month-old daughter by “homicidal means,” according to a press release.

Detectives were called to the 1800 block of Carpenter Road Southeast on Tuesday, Jan. 28, after the woman said she had found the girl deceased in bed.

The cause of death wasn’t determined at that time.

During the investigation, detectives learned additional facts from an autopsy by the Thurston County Coroner’s Office.

The manner of death was determined to be a homicide. Additional investigation revealed that the mothers of the child had caused the girl’s death by “homicidal means,” according to the sheriff’s office.

The woman was arrested Wednesday night for second-degree murder.

Her name was not released.

This story will be updated after she makes her first court appearance.
