A Montana man who was taken to Harborview Medical Center Tuesday later died following a crash that occurred when he attempted to pass a vehicle on the right shoulder while traveling on state Route 507 about 2 miles north of Tenino, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Ryan H. Hoskin, a 21-year-old from Kalispell, was driving northbound in a 2013 Ford Fusion at about 6:30 p.m. when he attempted to pass a 1989 flatbed pickup truck driven by a 71-year-old Tenino resident on the right shoulder. The two vehicles collided.
While Hoskin suffered fatal injuries, the Tenino man was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation, according to the State Patrol. It’s unknown if drugs or alcohol played a factor.
The Ford Fusion was totaled and the flatbed pickup truck was driven from the scene.
State Route 507 was blocked for three hours and 35 minutes.
