A Rainier woman was killed in a Wednesday night residential fire, according to the Southeast Thurston Fire Authority.
The victim was identified Thursday as 49-year-old Chelsea Spooner, Thurston County Coroner Gary Warnock said. She was reportedly a resident of the home.
Warnock said his office will perform an autopsy Friday morning.
According to Fire Chief Mark King, firefighters were dispatched around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday to a mobile home located at 10341 138th Ave. in Rainier.
Crew were able to put out the fire by 12:28 a.m., but the structure was considered a total loss.
King said an investigation crew found the remains of one woman in the kitchen area. First responders were also aware that a person was likely in the home because a car was parked outside and the front door was locked.
A preliminary investigation found that the fire was likely caused by candles, King said.
