Black Bear

A black bear is seen foraging in this Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife handout photo. This is not the bear or bears recently spotted on the Nisqually Reservation.

Tribal law enforcement say there have been sightings of a black bear earlier this week on the southern portion of the Nisqually Reservation.

In a recent Facebook post by Nisqually Public Safety Complex, officials claimed multiple black bear sightings around the Nisqually Youth Center ballfield, Mary Bobb Drive and portions of Reservation Road.

Officials also cautioned residents to be mindful about trash and debris they leave outside.

“Please be careful and keep an extra eye on your children and animals,” the post read. “Law enforcement will conduct extra area patrols throughout the lower.”
