As if Santa said “Don’t rain on my parade,” last Saturday’s Christmas in the Park Parade had the wet stuff coming down in the morning, but the skies lifted and the rain stopped just as the parade was about to get underway.

The threatening weather kept the usual thick crowds away from the parade route, but the parade went on as it always does, followed by the free Christmas in the Park activities at Yelm City Park the rest of the day.

Free chili, hot dogs, drinks, books from the library to wrap as gifts, Christmas ornaments, bounce toys and an afternoon filled with music from area schools once again highlighted the annual event. And despite the wet weather from the morning, a roaring fire once again heated up the crowd.
